Winter Break Hours and Services

Resnick Library & Learning Center is CLOSED for winter break, from December 19, 2009 through January 18, 2010.  

Online resources are available as always 24×7.   The AskUs online reference assistance is also available except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.  AskUs service is available from the library web site and VanckoHall.

Staff will be checking messages periodically, and will try to respond within 48 hours. 

Library fines… charges for the fall semester have been applied to your fall bill (and will hold up grades and transcript requests).  Please contact Student Accounts at 746-4625 with any questions about your charges.

Interlibrary loans….faculty and staff may continue to request materials through ILLiad, but delivery will be delayed during the holidays, especially the week between Christmas and New Year’s. 

Returning library materials…please use the outside bookdrop near the library entrance.  You may also drop items off at any SUNY library to be returned to Delhi through the LAND courier service.

We will open Tuesday-Friday, January 19-22, 2010, 8 am – 5 pm and also Saturday-Sunday, January 23-24 for special Orientation hours.  Spring semester hours begin Monday, January 25.

Extended Hours December 2009

The Resnick Library’s hours of operation for the month of December are listed here in a calendar view.  Finals hours start Sunday, December 6th and end after Wednesday, December 16th.  The Library will close for the holidays starting after Friday, December 18th and will not reopen until Monday, January 4th.

Requesting ILL Materials Stop Date

Attention Students:
The library asks that you not request Interlibrary Loan (ILL) materials via ILLiad on or after Monday, December 7th.   The reason is due to the improbability that the materials will arrive in time for you to use them before the December 11th due date imposed on all library materials.  Thank you for using ILLiad, and we look forward to serving you in the Spring.

Library Hours Thanksgiving Break

The Resnick Library and Learning Center will be closed for Thanksgiving break from Tuesday 11/24 at 5pm through Sunday 11/29.

Library Hours Over Fall Break

Don’t forget the Library is closed during the upcoming Columbus Day Holiday:
Saturday, October 11 – Tuesday, October 14

Library online Chat service and email will be offline Saturday through Monday, but will be back online Tuesday morning at 8am.

New Library Web Site….coming by October 15

 

The Resnick Library will soon be changing the look and style of its web pages to fit in with the college’s OmniUpdate platform.  Please be aware the web site address and the navigation will be changing by October 15.    We are interested in feedback from any faculty or staff as we move to the new site.   If any of you are interested in previewing the pages and providing us with criticism and/or suggestions, please contact us at library@delhi.edu or leave a comment on this blog.

Make Sure Your Vote Counts in November!

Are you registered to vote in this year’s Presidential election?  Act now, it’s not too late!

It’s easy:  fill out an online or paper application (available on campus in your Resnick Library and Learning Center), and mail with photocopy of ID (driver’s license or passport) OR deliver in person to your state’s election office.

College students living away from home can mail in registration forms (by Oct 10 in NYS), and then send in an absentee ballot to their local election board.  See registration applications and absentee ballots below. 

NYS dates:
Oct 10 – Applications must be postmarked by October 10.  (Oct 15 for some exceptions)

NYS absentee ballots must be mailed to your local election board office 7 days before the general election (TUESDAY OCT 28 this year) or delivered in person up to the day before (MONDAY NOV 3) the election.

To vote in federal election, you must:

• be a United States citizen;
• be 18 years old by December 31 of the year in which you file this form (note: you must be 18 years old by the date of the general, primary or other election in which you want to vote);
• live at your present address at least 30 days before an election;
• not be in jail or on parole for a felony conviction and;
• not claim the right to vote elsewhere.

WHEN YOU VOTE:
If you register for the first time in a state by mail, you must present ID at the polls.

Library Passwords and Accounts

The library emergency password for off-campus databases (CINAHL, Lexis/Nexis, ScienceDirect, etc.) has changed for the fall semester.  You should be able to use your college ID, but if that doesn’t work, we have a temporary password that changes each semester.   Contact the library at library@delhi.edu and provide your college ID, or log into VanckoHall to get the emergency password.

As a reminder, there are 3 different possible library logins:
1. Off-campus access for databases (such as above), which is your college ID.  Only needed when you’re off campus trying to access resources such as CINAHL, ScienceDirect, etc.

2. Your Resnick Library account – that is stuff you’ve borrowed from Resnick Library.  You can view the list of loans, renew online, etc.  Your login is your college ID.

3. ILLiad Interlibrary Loan system, which allows you to borrow books, films, etc from other libraries in SUNY and around the state.   You can track requests, renew, etc.  (sign up following link on library home page, it’s free!).   Keep it simple and make your ILLiad account your college ID like the other accounts (or use your Delhi email account).
