Emergency Password for Spring 2010

If your 800# does not work when trying to access library databases from off-campus (eg CINAHL, WorldCat, ScienceDirect), you should use the emergency password and also notify the library so we can research the problem. The most common reason your 800# will not work is if you’re a new BSN student starting VanckoHall orientation *before* the official start of a semester. After that it should work fine.

To access the emergency password, log in to the Resnick Library’s page on Vancko Hall and go to the Databases and Finding Articles Forum.

The emergency password to access databases changes each semester to ensure only enrolled students/faculty/staff have access to these resources.

Spring Semester Hours…Now Open 7:30am

ResnickLibraryHoursSpr2010Welcome back to spring (well, almost) in Delhi!
Thanks to support from the campus, we are able to open the library a half-hour earlier this semester — we’ll be open at 7:30am Mon-Friday.  The Library Cafe is also open at 7:30, so come on in for breakfast and some quiet study time before your first class.

ScienceDirect Maintenance 1/23-24

ScienceDirect, one of the library’s science databases, will be down for maintenance on Saturday, January 23rd from 8am-8pm EST.  Please make sure your research needs are taken care of around this outage.  The notification from ScienceDirect is below:

ScienceDirect and Scopus will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance
for approximately 12 hours from 1:00PM GMT Saturday, 23 January to 1:00AM
GMT Sunday, 24 January (8:00AM EST Saturday, January 23 to 8:00PM EST).

If you have any questions about databases, please don’t hesitate to contact the library.

Find Articles by Subject…It Gets Easier

If you have accessed one of our databases through our “Find Articles by Subject” page, you might have noticed some changes. We have broken up our subject list to better reflect our academic divisions and course offerings and provided descriptions for each database to give a better idea of what is in store. If you haven’t visited the page in a while, check it out to see if there are any resources for your subject area with which you might be unfamiliar:

Emergency Password for Accessing the Databases

The emergency password to access databases will change with the beginning of the Spring semester, but in the mean-time the Fall 2009 password will still work.   If your 800# is not working properly, this emergency password will grant you access. You can view the password on the Resnick Library’s Vancko Hall page, under the Databases Forum.  With the beginning of the spring semester, most students who were experiencing problems over the winter should find that their 800#’s are working.

If you are still having issues after the spring semester starts, check out our Troubleshooting Checklist on the Resnick Library’s Vancko Hall page, under the module for Journals: Print & Databases.

Have a great semester!
