New Emergency Database Password for Summer 2012

Please log into Vancko Hall to find out the new password for accessing library resources from off-campus.   This includes Ebsco databases, WorldCat, LexisNexis, OED and others.

The password is posted on the Resnick Library page in Vancko Hall (click on the “Library” tab at the top of the VH entrance page).

The spring password will work for one more week before it is taken down.

Remember, if you are enrolled in a summer course, your college ID (800#) should grant you access to any library resource; the password is only for emergency purposes. If you are returning in the fall, but are not taking a class this summer, you will need to use the emergency password to access the databases until classes begin again this fall.  Please notify the library if you cannot access the databases using your college ID.

Have a wonderful summer!

And the award goes to…

On Thursday, April 26, Resnick Library and Learning Center hosted the 6th annual Academic Support Services Awards Ceremony. During this ceremony, the library recognized three outstanding student workers: Penny Bishop, Katherine Dixon, and Brittany Dougherty. All three were commended for their dependability, hard work, and use of good judgement while working at the library’s front desk.

Penny, Katherine, and Brittany receive their certificates from Michele DeFreece.

Library staff also presented two Friend of the Library awards. Friends of the Library are selected for ongoing contributions to library resources and services. This year, Dr. Terry Hamblin was recognized as a Friend of the Library, for supporting information literacy instruction, adding items to the collection, and assisting with the library’s assessment efforts.

Michele DeFreece presents Terry Hamblin with his Friend of the Library plaque.

The other recipient was the SUNY Office of Library and Information Services (OLIS). OLIS provides many of our online databases, supports our online catalog and coordinates staff training, among other things. Maggie Horn, Maureen Zajkowski and Karen Gardner-Athey traveled from Albany to accept the award.
