Upcoming system downtime: We are scheduled to upgrade our systems on
Saturday, October 24, from 3:00 am – 5:00 am Eastern Time. As a result of this upgrade, all services (Serials Solutions 360 services, Client Center, Ulrich’s, and Summon) may be unavailable for this period of time.
Four new laptops are available for nursing and veterinary science students to use in the Library. The laptops are wireless, have a built-in webcam and come with Office 2007. Thanks to our generous donors who made this purchase possible. Laptops can be checked out at the Library front desk.

President Obama has made a Proclamation that created Information Literacy Month for October. According to the National Forum on Information Literacy, “Information Literacy is defined as the ability to know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand.”
President Obama has made his declaration about the importance of information literacy at all ages, and the library is one organization that is working towards the education of and improvements in information literacy, which is why the Resnick Library has decided to create a post about this important proclamation.

OCLC has notified us that NetLibrary will experience two maintenance periods in October that will affect libraries and users.
October 6th, Approximately 9:00 – 11:00am EDT
Though the impact on the NetLibrary site is expected to be minimal, servers will be taken out of service incrementally and the operating systems will be patched. Consequently users may experience unexpected behavior during this time (e.g. losing sessions unexpectedly or losing access to a title). In these cases the users should be able to log back in and return to what they were doing within a few minutes.
October 11th, 4:00 – 6:00 am EDT
This scheduled maintenance will result in a temporary outage of all NetLibrary services, which includes the NetLibrary patron site and the NetLibrary Media Center. During this time an explanatory page will display in place of the patron website.
This blog posting is mainly for faculty, but also for anyone that has used persistent/permanent links to articles featured in these two databases from EBSCO: Academic Search Premier and Business Source Premier.
Over the summer, the library was able to upgrade to the fuller versions of these: Academic Search Complete and Business Source Complete. Our subscription to the older ones were canceled, rendering links to these broken. To update your links, simply change the letters in the links.

The library’s hours over breaks does vary, so its important to take note of them with the upcoming Fall Break. As always, our hours of operation are displayed on the library’s web page at http://www.delhi.edu/library/hours.php. For the Fall Break, the library will close on Friday, October 9th at 5pm as usual, but will remain closed from Saturday, October 10th-Tuesday, October 13th. The library will reopen on Wednesday morning at 8am to restart normal hours.
For online support, the AskUs 24/7 service will be open for the Fall Break except for the Columbus Day holiday on Monday, October 12th. Online SUNY Delhi Librarian help will not be available over the weekend, but may have spotty coverage on Monday and Tuesday.
